Eligibility

Participants must be 18+ and currently enrolled in an Ontario post-secondary institution. Sheridan Datathon organizers, volunteers, and sponsors' immediate family are ineligible for prizes.

Teams

1–4 members per team. Individuals may only join one team.

Attendance

This is an in-person event at Sheridan HMC Campus (Mississauga, ON). Participants must attend on-site for the duration of the datathon.

Hacking Window

All project work must be created between Saturday, November 7, 2026, 12:00 PM EST and Sunday, November 8, 2026, 12:00 PM EST. Pre-existing projects are not eligible. Open-source libraries and frameworks are allowed.

Submissions

Must be made through Devpost by 12:00 PM EST on Sunday, November 8, 2026. Each submission must include:

  • A project deliverable using one of the sponsor-provided datasets and problem statements
  • A 2–3 minute presentation video
  • A public link to source code or files
  • Clear track selection on Devpost

Late submissions will not be accepted.

Judging

Sponsor-backed prize tracks are judged by the sponsoring company. Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are selected by a panel of independent industry judges. Criteria include depth of analysis, methodology, storytelling, and real-world impact. Judges' decisions are final.

Prizes

Winners must claim prizes within 30 days. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash unless explicitly noted.

Intellectual Property

Participants retain full ownership of their submissions. By submitting, participants grant Sheridan Datathon, GDG on Campus Sheridan, and event sponsors a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and promote the submission for marketing and educational purposes.

Data Usage

Sponsor-provided datasets may be used for educational and portfolio purposes. Commercial use requires written permission from the sponsoring company. Participants agree not to re-identify anonymized data.

Publicity

By participating, you agree that organizers may use your name, likeness, and project for promotional purposes unless you opt out in writing.

Code of Conduct
